Frequently Asked Questions

What is KochiFOSS? toggle

A bunch of developers and enthusiasts passionate about സ്വതന്ത്ര/Free/Libre software around Kochi decided to meet in person. Our first meetup happened in May 2023, and we've been getting together almost every month since.

How can I join the community? toggle

We don't have any formal registrations and prefer to keep things informal. Feel free to join our chat groups on Matrix, XMPP, or Telegram. The three services are bridged, so everyone sees the same messages. The links are available at the top of this page.

How do I propose a talk? toggle

Once an upcoming meetup is announced, a "Propose a talk!" button will be available at the top of this page. Please note that we accept talk proposals exclusively related to സ്വതന്ത്ര/Free/Libre software. For any clarifications, you're welcome to ask in the community chat.

Is there any fee? toggle

There's no cost at all. Just sign up early, since seating is limited at some venues. Please register only if you are able to attend, so we can plan accordingly.

How are expenses covered? toggle

We try to keep expenses low. Venues are typically sponsored by the host company, and community members sometimes chip in for things like the domain or stickers or sometimes the venue itself. Above all, people volunteer their time to make the meetups possible.

Anything to carry? toggle

Maybe a laptop? Stickers to share? For some venues, you might need to bring a government-issued ID card for security verification.
